Vegas Young Professionals is guided by an advisory council comprised of several community leaders who help guide the growth and direction of the organization. The council utilizes their unique strengths and influence in the community to build the VYP organization as a whole, bringing in top-notch speakers and ensuring the success of VYP on a program-by-program basis. The council is dedicated to expanding its efforts to reach more of the young professional demographic, increase community involvement and foster the business-building spirit within VYP membership.
Derek Hutchison: 2018 Chair
Senior District Manager, ADP
Derek Hutchison moved to Las Vegas straight out of college after graduating Cum Laude from California State University - Chico. Derek worked in hospitality for five years before joining the ADP team in October 2011. Shortly thereafter, he joined VYP. He saw immediate value in networking with young professionals and building his book of business. With over 400 small business clients in 20 states, he forms strategic partnerships with his clients by providing the best access to people and technology for their business. Outside the office, Derek enjoys snowboarding, hanging out at the beach, destination travel, golf, and investing in Las Vegas real estate.
Kelli Vaz: Immediate Past Chair
Marketing Project Manager, Red Sky Blue Water
Kelli Vaz is Marketing Project Manager at Red Sky Blue Water, a certified Microsoft Partner. Kelli has a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management coupled with more than fifteen years of exemplary operations management, account management and customer service experience across various industries. As a native of Las Vegas, Kelli is passionate about giving back to her community. She is the Past-Chair for Vegas Young Professionals and was the Community Outreach Chair prior to that. Kelli also volunteers her time to the Leadership Las Vegas program as an alumnus and the Focus program as Chair. In her spare time, Kelli enjoys spending time with friends and family, hiking, yoga, and traveling.
Adam Kent: Ambassador Chair
Co-Founder, Precision 702 Property Maintenance
Adam moved to Las Vegas from the Gold Coast Australia in 2016, spending the last three years in Australia as a business strategist and coach. Adam started Precision 702 because he believes his customers deserve precision when it comes to maintenance needs, honey-do lists or home remodels and repairs. Adam joined VYP because it's the place where the future of the business community can come together to collaborate on a professional level. Adam spends his free time volunteering, spending time with extended family and helping take care of his grandmother.
Karl Riley: Ambassador Co-Chair
Senior Associate Attorney, Snell & Wilmer, LLP
Karl Riley is a senior associate attorney at Snell & Wilmer, LLP. His practice focuses on employment defense and commercial litigation. Karl regularly advises employers on various issues, including employment discrimination, and wage and hour issues. He also handles financial services, real estate, and corporate governance litigation. He was recently awarded the Young Lawyer of the Year Award by the State Bar of Nevada. Karl has been an Ambassador for VYP for two years and is excited to join the Advisory Council. He joined VYP to become more ingrained in the community and meet the next generation of leaders of the Las Vegas community.
Shay Palmore: Community Outreach Chair
Engineer, National Security Technologies
ShaLonda “Shay” Palmore is an Engineer at National Security Technologies, where she works in Energy Management reporting clean energy and sustainability. Shay graduated from UNLV in 2010 with a bachelor's degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering and a minor in Mathematics. Shay joined VYP three years ago to get more involved with the community and share her love of volunteering with other young professionals. When she's not giving back to the community, Shay enjoys spending time with friends and family, playing with her American bulldogs Maximus and Zoey, cooking and watching sports.
Jonathan Via: Community Outreach Co-Chair
Business Banking Officer, Nevada State Bank
As a Business Banking Officer with Nevada State Bank, Jonathan Via reaches out to Southern Nevada businesses to explain how the Bank's products and services can benefit their companies. Jonathan has spent ten years banking in the unique Southern Nevada market, including both personal and business banking, commercial real estate and more. Jonathan frequently volunteers with JA of Southern Nevada and joined VYP to get make a larger impact on more people in the community. Jonathan is a 19-year resident of Henderson and enjoys hanging out with family and watching sports.
Bobby Misko: EYP Outreach Chair
Associate Partner, Bongiovi Law Firm
Las Vegas native Bobby Misko is a graduate of both Bishop Gorman and UNLV, and earned a J.D. from the Thomas Jefferson School of Law in San Diego, CA. Bobby's professional passion is real estate and he currently focuses on real estate needs with an emphasis on commercial leases. He’s a member of the State Bar of Nevada and is admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court for the District of Nevada and all Nevada state courts. Bobby joined VYP to create connections with other young professionals. Outside of work, Bobby enjoys cooking, whiskey tasting and following UNLV basketball.
Chad Kaercher: EYP Outreach Co-Chair

Chad Kaercher is a third-generation Las Vegan representing one of the most reputable insurance firms in the valley, Kaercher Insurance. He pursued his BA in Political Science and Economics at the University of Colorado, Boulder and moved back to Las Vegas to join the family business. Kaercher Insurance offers risk management and innovative solutions that transcends simply buying insurance. Chad is always on-hand at VYP events to welcome new members and connect young professionals with one another. In his spare time, Chad enjoys spending time in the snow and with his friends.
Kelly Peterson: Events Chair
Wealth Advisor Associate, Morgan Stanley
Kelly works closely with select clients to develop and implement investment strategies, prepare for major life events, and provide comprehensive financial advice. Kelly moved to Las Vegas in 2003, and he and his family have adopted the desert as their family’s home. As VYP Events Chair, Kelly helps to organize and plan the Bigwig Lunch Times and Community Conversations programs. Kelly joined VYP to get to know new people, and to find new ways to become involved in the community. Outside of the office, Kelly enjoys spending time with his three sons.
Steven Targoff: Events Co-Chair
Associate, Newmark Knight Frank
Steven Targoff moved to Las Vegas in 2011, and graduated from UNLV in 2013 with a major in Business Administration Entrepreneurship. After starting his career in commercial real estate, Steven looked for ways to expand his professional sphere of influence. To accomplish this, he began attending VYP events and mixers in January 2017. As the co-chair of the events committee, Steven hopes to coordinate quality professional development events that add value to all VYP members who attend them. When he’s not moderating an event for VYP, Steven is playing with his dogs and catching the newest movie.
Matthew Lindsey: Marketing Chair

Matthew Lindsey has a deep passion for serving the community as a volunteer for various local philanthropic causes. He routinely lends his experience to entrepreneurs through mentorship, classroom instruction and community outreach. Matt is also actively involved with the Asylee Refugee Migrant Assistance Network as well as the Jericho Project, where he speaks to school-age children and teenagers on a variety of topics, such as character building and self-esteem. When he's not posting on VYP's Instagram or writing the latest VYP blog, Matt enjoys wine tasting, astronomy, cycling and reading.
Alexis Elsethagen: Marketing Chair Co-Chair
Compliance, Diamond Resorts
While born in Vegas, Alexis was raised in Idaho. She attended business school at Utah State University and spent seven years working for the mouse at The Walt Disney Company on both coasts. Her current position is in compliance with Diamond Resorts. Alexis joined VYP to network with other young professionals and get to know the community.
